The  US government has given a grant of US$6.2 million to young women in Morocco as part of its Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. This was announced by  Ivanka Trump, daughter and advisor to President Donald Trump during her Moroccan trip, which ended last Friday. The fund is meant for the promotion of women’s full and free economic participation, an essential pillar of the W-GDP (Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative.)

Ivanka’s recent visit to the African country has received considerable media attention. The visit coincided with the celebrations to commemorate granting land titles to women from a particular tribal group, who were denied this right earlier. The meeting was coordinated by an NGO, namely MCC (Millennium Challenge Corporation). Morocco is the third African country to welcome Ivanka, after Ethiopia and Côte d’Ivoire, as part of the promotion of the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity
