SA President in New Delhi to attend G20 Meeting: Likely to hold consultations with other heads of state

President Ramaphosa will have bilateral meetings with Heads of State and Government on the margins of the G20. It is not clear who all heads of state he would be meeting on the sidelines of the agenda-packed event.   South Africa will assume the G20 Presidency in 2025

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in New Delhi India to attend the G20 annual summit, where he was welcomed by a senior union minister, South Africa’s International Relations minister, and South Africa’s High Commissioner to India. The theme of the G20 summit, which will begin on 9th September is “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.

At the end of August, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his wish for the AU to become a member of the G20.   Currently, South Africa is the only country which is a member of G20. Recently, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu who is currently in Delhi at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the G20 event also expressed a desire to become a member of the G20. In the meantime, AU spokesperson said that the organization so far has not received an invitation to be at the summit, as reported by www.trendsnafrica.com.
