We are delighted to present you the inaugural issue of Africa4U, an e-newsletter, which mainly captures the economic transformations that are taking place in the African continent. Our objective is to build economic and commercial synergies between India and Africa. There are many areas where the two regions can work together to mutually enhance their development opportunities. In some areas the work has already started and in others, potentials have been flagged. Yet, there are segments where a lot of work has to be initiated to facilitate handholding among the businesses of both regions. This e-newsletter attempts to bring the business evangelists from both the regions to understand and assess economic prospects and challenges of each other.

Bilateral investments, trade and technology cooperation between India and Africa are on the upswing. India Inc is now focusing on investment abroad in as much as attracting FDI from outside. As an investing nation, India’s investments are channelized to developed and developing regions. There is happily an overwhelming presence of Indian industry in the African region. Trade and other commercial exchanges are growing manifold in the recent years thanks to heightened economic activities in the region triggered by oil discoveries, rich mineral resources and focus on skill development programs. India can be a reliable partner in progress for Africa because of its capabilities to develop frugal technologies and concepts that can be easily absorbed by the African countries. Also, India can take a lead in skilling the continental Africa to enhance the quality of its human resources and to move in technology value chain.

This e-newsletter, to begin with, will be a fortnightly and shall endeavor to scale up its periodicity to bring to the esteemed readers economic updates on Africa on a real time basis. The news and views are collated from secondary sources and value added to make them crisp and reader friendly. There will also be news analysis, features, interviews, country profiles etc to make this unique effort appealing and worthwhile to the businesses. Important policy changes that are taking place in India will also be captured in the columns to give our African audience the scale and direction of the economic transformation of India, which is one of the fast growing economies of the world.

We look forward to your valuable suggestions and comments to make this venture more tuned to the requirements of the businessmen from both the regions.
