Jagan Chapagain, Secretary-General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said only 7% of the US$45 million appeal has been received. He further said that people were suffering in the country and the situation was deteriorating, underscoring an urgent need for assistance. So, global solidarity and generosity were absolutely needed, he added.
The Red Cross Chief added that during the Ukraine conflict, the world could come together in a massive way to help millions of people, both inside and outside the country. He wanted a similar type of solidarity for Sudan. Urged.
