Egypt has evinced interest to invest $1 billion in Pakistan over the next one year in various sectors including energy, infrastructure, halal food and tourism. This was stated by Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Fadel Yacoub in Rawalpindi addressing the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). The bilateral trade between India and Pakistan has recorded steady growth and stood at $260 million per annum. The Ambassador urged Pakistani businessmen to set up joint ventures in the pharmaceutical and health sectors. He added that Egypt could support Pakistan in eradicating Hepatitis C.
The First joint working group has been established by Pakistan and Egypt. Ministry of Commerce Joint Secretary Maria Kazi added that special incentives would be offered to Pakistani companies under ‘Look Africa’ initiative, a new strategic trade policy framework. She urged the Egyptian private sector to increase merchandise exports to Africa.
