Nokia to launch 4G & 5G services in Ethiopia

Nokia, the global leader in telecommunication, information technology, and consumer electronics company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two science and engineering universities in Ethiopia, the Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) and Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT).The objective of the collaboration is to promote digital skills and innovation in Ethiopia in line with the Ethiopian government’s objective of using ICT as an enabler of overall socio-economic transformation. Under the agreement, Nokia Corporation plans to launch 4G and 5G services in Ethiopia. The agreement also includes training on the latest technologies and experience sharing programs for both AASTU and AAiT. It is expected that the training will impart latest technical and business practices in the ICT sector in line with rapidly changing global trends to the students of the two universities.  The tailor made programme is also expected to facilitate students in acquiring the right competencies and skills relevant in a fast-changing labor market.  Special focus on providing equal opportunities to female students is another highlight of the initiative.
