U.S.-Africa Business Summit is progressing in Gaborone, Botswana. Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in partnership with the Government of Botswana is hosting the event and it brought together more than 1,000 U.S. and African private sector executives, international investors, senior government, and multilateral stakeholders. Summit enables the participants to connect with government and private sector decision-makers over the course of four days and to deliver the insights that they need to move their organization forward.

Enhancing Africa’s Value in global value chains is a profound recognition that there are fundamental gaps between the global South and the North in terms of Africa’s stake in value chains and integration, stated Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Officiating the event, Masisi said the Summit is a step forward as the continent forges together toward creating a strong, balanced, transparent, and inclusive trading system that benefits all nations. It is particularly pertinent to the sub-Saharan countries that are faced with enormous challenges relating to industrialisation, job creation, economic diversification, skills gaps, narrow export commodities, and low export capacities. Botswana as a developing country falls within this unfortunate category, despite being classified as an Upper-Middle Income Economy.
