UNDP discusses strategy for developing renewables in Libya

  • The Renewable Energies Authority of Libya (REAoL) and the UNDP discussed developing renewables and energy efficiency in Libya. The meeting discussed several important issues related to strengthening cooperation between the two sides with the aim of developing the renewable energies sector to help the country achieve energy efficiency. 

The Renewable Energies Authority of Libya (REAoL) and the UNDP discussed developing renewables and energy efficiency in Libya.

The discussion took place between the Chairman of REAoL, Abdel Salam Al-Ansari and  Marc-Andre Franche – Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Libya,  accompanied by Nuri Al-Kashriou, an energy expert at the UNDP Libya.  Ibrahim Kanna, a member of the REAoL Board was also present at the meeting.

The meeting discussed several important issues related to strengthening cooperation between the two sides with the aim of developing the renewable energies sector to help the country achieve energy efficiency. REAoL is the official body entrusted with the management and development of this field. Libya has a huge reseve of oil and other minerals, which is one of the reasons for attracting investment proposals from several countries, despite its not so conducive security situation, because of the fight between two warring factions.
