Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, met a delegation of Turkish businessmen headed by the Chairman of the Libyan-Turkish Business Owners Council, Murtaza Karanfil, recently.
Of late, Libya has initiated bilateral talks with several countries in the region and outside to forge meaningful business ties. Despite its internal strife, external companies and other agencies are showing interests in investing in the country, particularly in the oil and mining sectors. The peace process initiated by the UN by installing an elected government in Tripoli still has not met with success because of the dissensions within the country.

The meeting comes as a continuation of Istanbul’s recent meetings with Libyan authorities to strengthen economic ties and networking between business owners and investors in both countries. Both sides discussed the need for cooperation across a variety of sectors including energy, particularly renewal energy, health and trade.
