SA delegation in Angola to boost its exports

Department of Trade and Industry, ( DTI) of South Africa has sponsored recently  a mission  of South African businessmen to Angola to explore business opportunities. The five -day visit of the delegation, according to the DTI officials managed to establish right contacts, or get business deals. The fact-finding mission was focused on tapping export markets for South African products and services and to recruit new foreign direct investment into the country.

South Africa, these days are sponsoring missions to various countries for promoting their exports. Recently, a team was in India visiting capital city of New Delhi and commercial capital Mumbai. www.trendnafrica.com had a  meeting with some members of the delegation. The basket of products offered to the Indian market included agricultural products like wines, blueberries, uncut diamonds, mining equipment, etc. South Africa expects that with the further opening of the coal sector in India and the expected private sector participation, there are several opportunities to sell the mining machinery to Indian companies desirous of entering that sector.

In the meantime, Angola is also keen to have more business relations with South Africa, particularly for investment in oil and gas, mining in general and diamond mining in particular. The 200 strong trade mission to Angola was organized and funded by the DTI through its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) Scheme.
