As the peace process is limping back to Tigray region in Ethiopia, both the US and EU are monitoring the developments closely. That will be a critical factor for restoring normal relations with Ethiopia, according to the EU Foreign Policy Chief Joseph Borrell.

The EU Foreign Policy Chief said that peace was gradually returning to the region, which had witnessed violence in recent times, after the UN and AU brokered the peace process,  signed in South Africa on 2 November 2022.  The implementation of the process is taking place under the close supervision of all involved.  That will be an overwhelming condition for the EU and the US  to restore their diplomatic relations with Addis Ababa. Both parties have asked Ethiopia and Tigray to maintain utmost care not to vitiate the ongoing peace process.

Gradually, all services including air travel are being restored in the war-affected Tigray region.
