Beninese president Patrice Talon visited France, where the head of state was received by his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. Both leaders are reported to have met for a working lunch at the Elysée Palace.
The discussion was a follow-up to Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Benin last July and both leaders reported to have touched upon vocational training, the strengthening of economic ties, cultural cooperation projects and support for the Beninese armed forces in terms of equipment.
Benin and Togo share borders with Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, where there is violence triggered by Islamist militants, who have made the region a hotbed of violence. It may be pointed out that in most of the Sahel countries, France is being looked at as an ex-colonial master and the French deployment of troops to protect the sovereignty of respective countries is either withdrawn completely or being gradually reduced. France and other western countries blame these developments as a direct result of the misinformation being spread by Russia.

While in Paris, Patrice Talon visited Beninese students attending the Gobelins school, one of the world’s leading schools for animation, accompanied by a delegation of ministers.
