A group of Kenyan protestors led by comedian Eric Omondi, blocked Nairobi’s Parliament Road on 21st February while protesting against the high cost of living including that of electricity and cooking oil.

The demonstrators wanted to meet the National Assembly Speaker to convey that the citizens were conned by legislators by passing a bill that resulted in higher levels of taxation. However, they were denied permission to meet the speaker by the security agencies. There are also reports that the police lobbed teargas to disperse the shirtless protesters.
