The last leg campaign for the forthcoming elections in Nigeria to swing the votes in favour of respective aspirants is on. All frontrunners are busy travelling across the country in a last-minute effort to make the election results in their favour.

Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa, with 200 million people. Of that, more than 90 million people are registered to vote. As Buhari is stepping down, the ruling party’s candidate Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  believed to be one of the frontrunners is actively participating in the campaign. Bola Tinubu, a pollical veteran, is expected to stage a final rally in his hometown shortly.

The main opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) is also in the fray. Believed to be a crowd-puller,  Abubakar, is getting support from the citizens as thousands throng in his election campaigns. Importantly, he is a political veteran and was vice president from 1999 to 2007. This is the sixth time he is making an attempt at the presidency

Peter Obi is the candidate from the Labour Party (LP). He mainly depends on social media to reach out to the masses and is widely believed to be a dark horse since many feel that he has the credentials to be a good politician and makes it a point to connect with people emotionally and physically.

In a country faced with several economic challenges, such as high inflation, supply disruptions of essential goods, etc, Obi is gaining traction. Many feel that if he cannot make it to the presidency, at least he would be keeping the other two on their toes because there is no clear front-runner even while the elections are only a few days away. Coupled with security issues let loose by hoodlums and jihadists in the midst of a cash crisis and high inflation, the 2023 elections in Nigeria will be a memorable event.
