Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has sworn in for the next term, after serving in that post without a break for 43 years.  He is the longest serving head of state in the world, barring monarchs. Members of the international community, including the US government, have raised concerns over the legitimacy of the landslide victory of the president’s PDGE party. The party claimed the support of a whopping 94.9% of the vote.

Members of the government of the central African country reacted to these doubts. The only thing the people can expect from the newly re-elected president is to continue the development of the  country in all sectors. People want sustainability of the development process in the  central African country. It is another matter that “people’s will” often get derailed due to continuous dictatorship for more than four decades. Opposite shades of opinion are suppressed or sources of such opinions are carefully suppressed or eliminated using  state muscle power.
