Egypt has agreed to launch an electrical wiring interconnection system (EWIS) between Egypt and Europe via Greece which will involve an investment of €3.56billion.
The project is aimed to export clean energy from Egypt to Europe via Greece. Greece, in turn, will use part of the energy and export the bulk to European countries.

The capacity of the line that will connect Egypt and Greece will reach about 3000 megawatts and will contribute to the European goal of the FIT 55 standard and the elimination of carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
