In response to the popular concerns about the quality issues of Toblerone chocolate in the market, the Rwanda Food and Drug Authority (RFDA) has ordered businesses to stop the sale of Toblerone chocolate.

The regulator was prompted to investigate the quality of the chocolate after social media was flooded with complaints. RFDA initiated investigations and found that the chocolate did not comply with standards, particularly in terms of its hardness and degraded colour. Subsequently, RDA issued a statement advising importers, distributors, and retailers of the Toblerone chocolates, to remove them from the shelves and stop selling them.

The regulatory authority also urged all distributors, supermarkets, and others to return them where they were bought while importers were advised to receive the stock and report to the FDA the quantities imported, the quantities returned and the stock on hand within 15 days. It also urged the customers to stop their consumption. RDA stated that it will carry out further investigations to find out the real issues.
