Nigerians, numbering several thousand, were on the streets of Lagos and other cities recently in support of Labour Party candidate Peter Obi as he launched his election campaign for the 2023 presidential election.
For many Nigerians, Peter Obi offers an alternative to the old-guard candidates put forward by the main parties like PDP and APC. The Labour party leader has hit out at the corruption in the country and the high level of inflation that had kept the Nigerians poorer despite its rich natural resources.
Peter Obi, a former state governor, and banking executive are challenging the long dominance of the ruling APC and main opposition PDP parties to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari at the next election scheduled for the end of February 2023.
