Lebanon a major investor in Egypt

Lebanese investments in Egypt peaked at US$1.2 billion, according to the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed. He added that Lebanon occupied the 13th position in the ranking of countries investing in Egypt.

Trade exchanges between Egypt and Lebanon rose by 35.4 percent in 2021 to about US$580 million, compared to US$420 million during 2020, the minister said.  The value of Egyptian imports from Lebanon rose to US$228.5 million, compared to US$131 million.

The minister was talking at the Egyptian-Lebanese Business Forum, held recently in Cairo.   There are 1,904 Lebanese companies operating in the Egyptian market. Their investments are concentrated in the financial, industrial, service, and real estate sectors.  The minister invited the Lebanese companies to establish joint partnerships with their Egyptian counterparts to start exporting to the countries in which Egypt participates in trade agreements.
