Ethiopia’s exports record 13 percent growth

According to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration of Ethiopia,  the country has exported goods worth 4.12 billion USD in the just concluded fiscal year recording a 13.81 percent growth compared to the previous year’s export performance.

According to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration of Ethiopia  the country has exported goods worth 4.12 billion USD in the just concluded fiscal year recording a 13.81 percent growth compared to the previous year’s export performance.

 Announcing this, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Gebremeskel Chala added that the key contributions to the export came from the agriculture, industry and mining sectors. He also said that modernizing the systems, and enhanced collaborations between the ministry and exporters as well as other pertinent stakeholders, also helped in the growth of exports. The government, he informed, plans to create market linkages, expand international trade destinations as well as control contraband and illegal trade.

Meanwhile, according to the Department of African Affairs at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Ethiopia’s coffee exports to China, grew by 196 percent in 2021. As per the latest data, Ethiopia obtained a record 1.4 billion USD from coffee export in the 2021/22 fiscal year that concluded on the 7th of July.
