Algeria will reopen the land border between Tunisia, mainly to facilitate tourist flow between the two countries. It is expected that the border will be opened in mid-July, probably on 15th July. The announcement has come in the midst of Algeria celebrating its 60th year of independence. He was with Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied who was preparing to leave the country after attending the festivities.

Road traffic between the two countries was limited to the transport of goods since the closure of borders in March 2020 to control the spread of the coronavirus. This severely hit the tourism sector in Tunisia, which helped the country to earn much-needed resources. For Tunisians, Algeria is a major supplier of tourists, particularly during the summer season. Every year more than three million Algerians travel to Tunisia. But it drastically went down during the Covid-19 pandemic days.
