·        The UAE’s federal export credit company, Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI) entered into a joint venture agreement with Israel Export Insurance Corp Ltd (Ashra) for a healthcare project in Ghana. Both the organisations have agreed to fund the $147 million healthcare project in Ghana.

Ghana has been seeking to enhance economic cooperation with UAE. The value of non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and Ghana rose to $2.7 billion in 2021, recording a 25 per cent growth compared to 2020 – and 56 per cent compared to 2019.

UAE has drawn up an ambitious plan to expand its footprint in Africa. In the Horn of Africa, the UAE has set up its military force. It has also deepened its ties with the military institutions of many African countries such as Sudan, Mauritania to contain extremism.
