EuroCam, the Association of European Entrepreneurs in Mozambique, has highlighted the need for permanent dialogue between the Mozambican government and the country’s private sector. It has also underscored the need for the implementation of “bold” reforms for the country to attract more foreign direct investment.
Calling for a focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), EuroCam president Simone Santi, said that support to the SMEs would increase gross domestic product (GDP) and attract more foreign investment, thereby boosting the country’s socio-economic development.
Santi welcomed the resumption of direct support to the Mozambican State Budget by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. Large investments in the country’s energy and hydrocarbon sectors were clear signs of attracting foreign direct investment.

Mozambique, the EuroCam chief said, has enormous resources, such as biomass, hydric, geothermal, and oceanic potentials. It’s forest and agricultural mass could play key elements in the transformation of the country. Mozambican gas is recognised by the EU as one of the factors in the energy transition.
Santi said that the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine had disrupted the gas supply to Europe. That way, he said, the Russia-Ukraine conflict opened an opportunity for Europe to start buying gas produced in Mozambique.
