Zambia has drafted over 40,000 smallholder rural farmers under an agriculture finance system that runs on digital format. The rural farmers will have access to the digital financial services offered by AB Bank Zambia, AB Bank and Community Markets for Conservation (COMACO).
The German Development Agency (GIZ) signed a partnership agreement with banks to offer tailor-made digital financial services to farmers under COMACO cooperatives on October 28, 2021. Bank officials said that the growth and expansion of their digital channels has improved the way it is undertaking business operations.
It is providing a platform to mobile money (MOMO) service providers for their transactions through the digital channels operated by the Bank.
Amongst the signatory banks, AB Bank is the lead bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It has been servicing the largest number of customers from the small sector.
