The inaugural ceremony was attended by Sahle-Work Zewde, Ethiopia’s President, Yinager Dessie , Governor of Ethiopia’s Central Bank, and other government officials. The multi-storeyed Hibret’s new building has taken six years to complete,

The bank was established in September 1998, and has 1.42 million customers, and over 400 branches across Ethiopia. The previous year, Hibret Bank had registered a profit of 1.44 billion birr.
