Thousands of protestors assembled to demand the end of military rule on Tuesday. The security forces faced protesters in the streets of Khartoum. As reported by www.trendsnafrica.com, Abdallah Hamdok stepped down as Prime minister recently. This had plunged the country further into turmoil. It is also reported that the resigned prime minister wanted to play a key role in the next election and may contest for the post of president.
The protesters insist on a fully civilian government to lead the transition. However, the military says that power would be handed over only to an elected government. The country has been politically paralyzed since the Oct. 25 coup.
