Trade exchanges between Jordan and Egypt pick up

- The value of trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan recorded US$430.8 million in the first half of 2021, compared to $341.3 million during the same period in 2020. This was an increase of 26.2 percent
- The value of Egyptian exports to Jordan amounted to US$348 million during the first half of 2021, compared to US$274.3 million during the same period in 2020, with an increase of 26.9 percent.
The trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan has witnessed a significant increase in recent years.

The value of trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan recorded US$430.8 million in the first half of 2021, compared to $341.3 million during the same period in 2020. This was an increase of 26.2 percent. The value of Egyptian exports to Jordan amounted to US$348 million during the first half of 2021, compared to US$274.3 million during the same period in 2020, with an increase of 26.9 percent. The value of Egyptian imports from Jordan recorded US$ 82.8 million during the first half of 2021, compared to US$ 66.9 million during the same period in 2020. This was an increase of 23.7 percent.

The value of remittances from Egyptians working in Jordan recorded US$678.5 million during the fiscal year 2019-20, compared to US$654.2 million during the fiscal year 2018-19, an increase of 3.7 percent. The remittances of Jordanians working in Egypt amounted to US$11.1 million during the fiscal year 2019-20, compared to US$17.7 million during the fiscal year 2018-19. This was a decrease of 37.5 percent.

The value of Jordanian investments in Egypt amounted to US$41 million during the first half of the fiscal year 2020/21, compared to US$7 million during the same period in 2019-20, recording an increase of 485.7 percent. The number of Egyptians present in Jordan, according to the mission’s estimates, reached 920,000 Egyptians until the end of 2020, while the number of Egyptians in Jordan, according to those registered, reached 11.5 thousand Egyptians.
