Mali’s Foreign Minister was in Morocco this week in a bid to strengthen bilateral ties. He conveyed that the new transitional government was keen to get the support of allies to help improve its security situation, especially in the north.
Abdoulaye Diop, the Malian Foreign Minister stated that the aim of the transitional government was to calm the situation and create conducive conditions to go to the elections. A stable security situation, is critical to hold elections he said. The Minister added that since its inception, Mali’s transitional government has been pushing for major reforms in the country and also planning election while fighting the Jihadists in the north.
