Ethiopian Airlines’ recently signed Codeshare and Interline Agreement with AccessRail is expected to enhance connectivity options for its passengers to Western Europe, United Kingdom, Scandinavian, Japan and Canada. A Press release by the carrier stated that the agreement offered passengers of Ethiopian Airlines seamless connectivity with all journey segments contained on a single Ethiopian Airlines ticket. Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde GebreMariam, observed that the agreement was a monumental agreement with AccessRail, the world’s leading provider of air-rail intermodal solutions.
The collaboration enables Ethiopian Airlines to expand its network of destinations and to feed ET flights in both interline and codeshare format. Additionally, it offers agents as well as consumers new options in their Ethiopian Airlines journeys which include surface sectors via a single process.
He cited it as another step for the airlines to improve customer service through collaboration with key partners across the globe. He noted that rail travel is becoming popular, especially when traveling regionally or locally, and the partnership will offer its customers access to extra convenience and better connectivity options particularly in markets where Ethiopian Airlines has no direct operations.
