The reduced incidence of COVID-19 in Zambia, the Government has decided to lift the restrictions for the next one month starting 2nd October 2021. However, the situation will continue to be monitored  for appropriate decision-making.

The new guidance on the various restrictions which have been in place says, among other things, that in churches and other places of worship,  services are to be conducted normally, subject to observing the five golden rules. Religious leaders are urged to disseminate public health messages to congregants, including encouraging congregants to get vaccinated.

Markets can operate normally while ensuring adherence to public health guidelines. Traders and customers are urged to observe regular disinfection of premises. Transport operators must ensure the masking up of all passengers.

Public events of a social nature  should insist on masking and physical distancing. Employers should ensure that employees return to normal working arrangements with strict adherence to 5 golden rules.

Where physical meetings are allowed, the organizers should hold such meetings in compliance with the compliance laid down. Bars, taverns, casinos and restaurants are allowed to operate in accordance with the laid down criteria.

Bars, taverns, casinos, restaurants and  nightclubs will operate normally and strictly observe the norms laid down by the government.
