Natural gas mining in Egypt rises to meet domestic demand

  • Total natural gas production by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has now reached 6.8 billion cubic feet of gas per day
  • This helps in meeting the domestic demand for natural gas, which is upwards of six billion cubic feet daily. The electricity sector consumes natural gas up to 60%.  The industry sector consumes more than 22%, followed by the petrochemicals and gas derivatives industry

This helps in meeting the domestic demand for natural gas, which is upwards of six billion cubic feet daily. The electricity sector consumes natural gas up to 60%.  The industry sector consumes more than 22%, followed by the petrochemicals and gas derivatives industry.

Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is looking forward to successful exploration of more natural gas findings. Ambitious action programs in all fields of gas industry are being carried out. It is also taking steps to attract foreign investments in the sector.
