The recently launched SMMS is a system that facilitates the identification and removal of illegal or unlicensed interference signals. The system launched in Nyeri is set up by Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).  There are ten more of its kind in the country including Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Trans Nzoia, Garissa, Kilifi and Mombasa counties.

Mr Mucheru said that the ICT ministry is working on a framework for frequency transfers. The goal is to ensure long term investors and avoid brief case investors who just sell it to the highest bidder. He added that the ministry is currently working on a rollout plan for 5G in the country.
