World Bank sanctions US$150 million for Angola

     The Angolan government has signed a financing agreement to the tune of US$150 million with the World Bank (WB).

  •  The funding will facilitate the purchase of covid-19  vaccines.

The Angolan government has signed a financing agreement to the tune of US$150 million with the World Bank (WB).  The funding will facilitate the purchase of covid-19  vaccines.

On the occasion of the signing ceremony, the minister of Finance, Vera Daves, pointed out that the partnership between the Government of Angola and the WB, has led to several achievements in strategic terms for the economic and social development of Angola. She added that the funding will support Angola in fighting the spread of Covid-19, by focussing on vaccination. Minister stated that the government on its part will  mobilization additional resources to combat Covid-19, through the signing of financing agreements, as well as through the mobilization of extraordinary resources from the Treasury, through the Ministry of Health.

The minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta remarked that Angola is aiming at vaccination of 60% of the eligible population by the end of the year.
