Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, among100 most influential people for 2021

·       Director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first woman and first African to lead the WTO since March this year has been listed as one of the 100 most influential people for 2021.

·       Time Magazine’s annual list of 100 most influential people in the world recognises individuals whose ideas, example, talent, or discoveries transform the world in five categories; Titans, pioneers, artists, leaders and icons.

 

 

Director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first woman and first African to lead the WTO since March this year has been listed as one of the 100 most influential people for 2021.Time Magazine’s annual list of 100 most influential people in the world recognises individuals whose ideas, example, talent, or discoveries transform the world in five categories; Titans, pioneers, artists, leaders, and icons.

Okonjo-Iweala, enjoys the status in the “leaders” category, along with Joe Biden, President of the United States of America; Kamala Harris, US Vice President; Xi Jinping, President of China, and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.

Speaking on Okonjo-Iweala’s achievements, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, praised her work at the helm of affairs at WTO at a moment of global health and economic crisis. They added that the world needed leaders like her to achieve the critical mission of vaccinating the whole world.
