Egyptian Foreign Minister Mevlüt ÇavuÅŸoÄŸlu had a meeting in Ankara with Vincent Biruta, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda recently. This was a follow up of a meeting between the two who met at the G-20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in June. Agreements were signed during the meeting in the fields of sports, education, industry and protocol.

Minister ÇavuÅŸoÄŸlu emphasized that  Egypt should not be hasty in recognizing the Taliban so also  the world. Everybody should act in a balanced way. He assured that  Turkey would act according to the conditions and developments.  He said that the EU should abandon the ‘refugees will not come because of COVID’ approach.  This, he said,  was a common problem.  There should be a fair burden sharing  among countries.

Minister ÇavuÅŸoÄŸlu also underlined that Egypt did not have a problem with the United Arab Emirates. He stressed that that there were no permanent friends and foes in international relations and emphasized that  Egypt was in Syria because of the threat of terrorism. That was in accordance with international law and respected Syria’s territorial integrity.
