Zambian businessmen were told to adopt technology to move in value chain. A business consultancy firm- AGOVA Limited – has urged Zambian companies to seize new business opportunities by using digital technology to overcome challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic.
AGOVA managing director Indiana Baseden said that the pandemic has undermined global economic growth, slashing profit margins, causing abrupt stoppages in business development. This has particularly affected the small medium enterprises (SME) sector.
Zambia’s economy has not been spared from the adverse effects of the pandemic since the first case was identified in the country in March 2020. Ms Baseden said there had been a positive impact of technological innovation during the pandemic. According to the Bank of Zambia, growth subsequently plummeted to -3 percent by the end of 2020 compared to 1.4 percent in 2019. However, she was confident that digital technology is now a key growth driver in Zambia.
