Italy to support Ethiopian women entrepreneurs in Leather sector

The latest cooperation agreement signed between Italy and Ethiopia focuses on supporting women entrepreneurs of Ethiopia. It seeks to promote entrepreneurial development and employment opportunities for women in the leather sector. The program with a budget of 1 Million Euro, apart from enhancing entrepreneurial skills will also strengthen market linkages, and provide networking opportunities. The MOU was signed by Ambassador of Italy to Ethiopia, Arturo Luzzi, and Yasmin Wohabrebbi, State Minister Finance, Ethiopia.

 In another significant deal, Italy has agreed to support Ethiopia on “building labour market intermediation that supports economic transformation in Ethiopia”. A statement by the Italian embassy said that the project to be supported with a grant of 4 Million Euros is expected to improve labour market outcomes for the rural population in Ethiopia by building effective Public Employment Services. Pilot rural job centers in three regions of the country will be established under the project. The project will support Ethiopian Government’s‘National Job Creation Plan 2020- 2025’. The agenda of the National Job creation Plan is to reduce the unemployment rate by creating jobs for millions of young Ethiopians entering the workforce each year.
