Earth Observing System Data Analytics (EOSDA) US-based satellite service provider will support smallholder farmers in Africa to use smart farming technology by applying Artificial Intelligence (AI). EOSDA, a global provider of AI-powered satellite imagery, will enable farmers to monitor their crop throughout the farming season by covering issues such as water stress on plantations, diseases, etc. The main product of ESODA is Crop Monitoring tool, an online satellite field service that collates all the important data about the state of crops.

The Application of AI by EOSDA is expected to cut losses, improve income and spur productivity. EOSDA and Agroxchange Technology have developed a tailored approach to effectively deliver multiple digital solutions to smallholding farmers in the continent to mitigate constraints such as low levels of technology uptake, lack of capacity to interpret data, cost of technology, and integration of technology with extension services. The multiple digital solutions will be packaged and delivered through a smart farming advisory and technical centre said Adewale Adegoke, the chief executive of Agroxchange Technology.

Precision agriculture is critical to achieving high yields for Africa which has rich and fertile soil with 60 percent of the population engaged in agriculture.
