President Kenyatta, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister CS Raychelle Omamo, was in Turkey for a two-day Official Visit at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During his visit, addressing an interactive session on governance at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, President Kenyatta called for the democratization of multilateral organizations to ensure inclusivity in decision-making. He added that changing how multilateral institutions such as the United Nations are managed will help in faster resolution of global challenges such as Covid-19.
He urged world leaders to develop a new order through diplomacy and dialogue that fosters inclusivity. He expressed the view that through democratisation of the global governance systems only it can work for equality and fairness for all global citizens. He cited the example of the slow flow and unfair global distribution of the Covid-19 vaccines into developing countries testified the contorted global multilateral system. Condemning the vaccine nationalism he said it was unfortunate that some countries are hoarding Covid-19 vaccines more than they require while others are struggling to access enough doses.
President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his opening address, lamented that the international community had failed to effectively manage the devastating impacts of the Pandemic and warned against vaccine nationalism.
