Along with a steady vaccination drive and careful lifting of restrictions to curb the spread of the virus, Morocco is also planning to re-open its airports to international flights on June 15. The Moroccan foreign ministry said that domestic and foreign travellers have to submit proof of vaccination against coronavirus or a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours in order to be let into the country. However, nationals and residents of the “B’ list of countries where the pandemic is uncontrolled and statistics are lacking shall need to provide an exceptional travel permit and stay in isolation for 10 days, the statement said.
The gradual opening in accordance with the evolution of the national and international epidemiological situation will facilitate the return of overseas Moroccans to their homeland, the ministry said. ‘Operation Marhaba 2021’ will collaborate with the same French and Italian ports as last year to facilitate the return of Moroccans living in Europe for summer vacation. French ports of Marseille and Sète, and the Italian port of Genoa will be used while the Spanish ports of Algeciras, Tarifa and Malaga are excluded from the Marhaba operation.
Morocco has introduced a vaccination pass for people who have received the two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine which will enable them to travel freely throughout the country, during the curfew hours and to travel abroad.
