The National Prosecuting Authority seeks the help of Interpol for arresting Gupta brothers

  • It has been reported that the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa has sought the help of Interpol for executing the arrest warrants for Atul and Rajesh Gupta, their wives, and a number of their business associates.
  • The Gupta brothers have been alleged of exploiting their closeness with former President of South Africa Jacob Zuma to expand their business interests.
  •  Zondo Commission of Inquiry has been probing Gupta brothers ties to high-ranking officials facilitating the alleged state capture.

It has been reported that the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa has sought the help of Interpol for executing the arrest warrants for Atul and Rajesh Gupta, their wives, and a number of their business associates. The Gupta brothers have been alleged of exploiting their closeness with former President of South Africa Jacob Zuma to expand their business interests.  Zondo Commission of Inquiry has been probing Gupta brothers ties to high-ranking officials facilitating the alleged state capture.

Over the past two years, the Gupta family was exposed.From being the power centre of South Africa’s economy they have become men on the run.  Through the #GuptaLeaks,

the family’s misdeeds were chronicled in-depth by a number of courageous civil society and media organisations.

Meanwhile, the Guptas face severe American financial sanctions also. The US has placed economic sanctions on members of Gupta family and a business associate for their alleged roles in a corruption network in South Africa.
