South Korea adds Egypt as a priority ODA partner

·        Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt, Hong Jin-wook met with Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, recently and exchanged opinions on ROK’s recent decision to add Egypt in the list of ODA priority partner countries and the ways to expand bilateral trade and other types of cooperation

·        This would lead to massive expansion of the development cooperation between the two countries. The North African country is already a strategic hub for the Korean business entities in Africa, the Middle East and Europe

·         The project also includes the master plan for the modernization of urban transportation in Alexandria and the waste management in greater Cairo project.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt, Hong Jin-wook met with Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, recently and exchanged opinions on ROK’s recent decision to add Egypt in the list of ODA priority partner countries and the ways to expand bilateral trade and other types of cooperation.  Both persons also discussed ways to promote bilateral relations leveraging Overseas Development Assistance (ODA).

Ambassador Hong  said that Egypt  would be treated as a ODA priority partner country during the year 2021-25. This, he said, would lead to massive expansion of the development cooperation between the two countries. The North African country is already a strategic hub for the Korean business entities in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

Minister Al-Mashat said that the continued cooperation between the two countries  would help Egypt  in acquiring cutting edge technology, sustainable economic growth model, and human resource development. They also  reviewed the status of ongoing ODA grants, worth US $2.7 million including US$1.9 million for newly implemented projects in 2021. The project also includes the master plan for the modernization of urban transportation in Alexandria and the waste management in greater Cairo project.
