Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that work was underway to develop the Suez Canal, to augment its capacity in line with the progress of the global trade movement.
The President had visited the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), to boost the morale of the employees and to reiterate to the people of Egypt that Suez Canal would continue to be a major international route for global movement of goods. The president also welcomed the participation of the private sector in the development projects set up by the state and assured that the existing projects would be completed in time.
Al-Sisi witnessed the inauguration of the first phase of the Port Said water station and the inauguration of pension housing units for SCA employees. The new headquarters for the Tunnels and Bridges Department in New Ismailia was also inaugurated in the presence of the President.
