President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh (73) is all set to retain his post in the recently held general elections. He has been in office for long 22 years.
When media asked him after casting his votes in the election about his winning chances, he said that it was almost a foregone conclusion. Most likely, this may be his last chance to be head of the state. In accordance with the constitutional reform, there is an age limit for contesting elections. That may make him ineligible for the next term.
Main opposition parties boycotted the election alleging unfair practices following by the president. As reported by www.trendsnafrica.com yesterday, political analysts widely expect a landslide win for him against the only electoral challenger Zakaria Ismail Farah, a newcomer and little known businessman.
