The Egyptian side said that the signing of the agreement heralded the start of studies to implement a pilot project for the production of “green hydrogen” in Egypt, as a step towards expansion in this field to reach the possibility of export, in connection with the global trend to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change. The minister explained the global importance of green hydrogen as a promising source of energy in the near future, and stated that there was a ministerial committee at the national level to study hydrogen as an energy source in the near future in Egypt

The agreement was signed by Gaber El Desouky, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company on behalf of Egypt, and Alan Bernard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “DEME” on behalf of the corporation in the presence of Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belgian company, “DEME”, indicated that the project came within the framework of the Kingdom’s pledges to implement the “Green Agreement”, as it is one of the member states of the European Union, and from this standpoint the company sought to choose the best sites that are suitable for establishing pivotal centers for production.
