The National Crisis Committee of Mauritius authorized people to enter the waters of the Blue-Bay Marine Park — one of the jewels of the island. After shipwreck of the oil cargo off the coast of Mauritius and months of draining and intense cleanup efforts in light of the devastating oil spills from the wreck, this is the first time the access to the waters are allowed by the authorities. The public can now access the most popular beaches on the south-east coast of the island since restrictions have also been lifted for several popular public beaches. Tourists normally use the beaches and the waters for swimming, diving and boat trips.
