Uganda has signed a Memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to boost innovation in the ICT sector. As part of the deal, Microsoft will support Uganda to develop platforms for app acceleration, establish innovation hubs to harness the developer ecosystem. “Microsoft will also partner with academic institutions in Uganda to provide content and software that will prepare students for the job market,” Microsoft East Africa’s Lillian Nganda said.
Last year Uganda entered into a partnership with Intel to develop the government’s technology hub in Nakawa, a center of technology research and development. The agreements with the Multinationals are expected to generate jobs for local ICT professionals.
