Egypt has achieved unprecedented results in addressing the unemployment rate, according to a report issued by country’s cabinet media center
Egypt successfully dealt with COVID-19 on two tracks; viz through well planned sensitization measures and two by addressing the economic and social recovery by giving importance to the unemployment issue. The unemployment rate came down to 7.3 percent from July to September 2020 compared to 9.6 percent from April to June. The number of jobless persons decreased 19 percent in the third quarter of 2020 where 2.06 million jobless persons to 2.57 million in the second quarter of the same year.
The unemployment among males reached 5.8 percent in the third quarter of 2020 as against 8.5 percent in the second quarter.
The unemployment among females reached 15.2 percent in the third quarter of 2020 compared to 16.2 percent in the second quarter of the same year. Egypt has been implementing 9,000 new development and service projects, such as opening airports and tourist resorts, which have considerably helped in reducing unemployment.
