Tirupati Graphite plc, a flake-graphite company with primary mining and processing projects in Madagascar has launched a 3000 tpa plant in Sahamamy, Madagascar. It proposes to build five more flake-graphite production plants in Madagascar. This marks a major landmark in the company’s roadmap to develop into an integrated graphite mining, production, and processing company. The project was acquired in January 2018 over an 8 sq km mining area with a permit issued for 40 years,.The company has set a flake-graphite production target of 21 000 tpy capacity. According to the company, the plant produces high-quality flake-graphite at 85% recovery rate, among the highest in the industry. The Project is located near the port of Toamasina which provides infrastructure connections to international export markets in Europe, North America and Asia. The firm also claims that orders from benchmark buyers in various user segments have been already secured for the first production. Construction is underway for the first production of 6000 tpa, scheduled for commissioning in Q2 2019 at Vatomina project, yet another project undertaken by the Group.
The Tirupati Graphite Group was formed in the year 2006 and operates mines and processing plant in the State of Jharkhand, India. Tirupati Resources Madagascar was formed In 2012 to mine and process the best quality flake graphite. In the Year 2017, Tirupati Graphite Group and Optiva Securities jointly formed Tirupati Graphite PLC to build mines and processing plant in Madagascar.
