A press release by the World Bank, has revealed that it has approved an aid package of 250 million U.S. dollars to Ghana to set up a development bank. According to the statement, the Development Bank of Ghana (DBG) will lead to more access to long-term finance and generate employment for 10,000 enterprises in critical sectors of the economy like agribusinesses, manufacturing, and high-value services.

Speaking about the initiative, Pierre Laporte, World Bank country director for Ghana said the support for the DBG is part of the endeavor of the world bank to promote sustainable growth in the country. The mandate of the DGB includes offering long-term wholesale financing, credit guarantees, and other services enhancing overall lending to priority sectors and market segments.
